4GRATITUDE ENERGY HEALING
A Foundation in Reiki, Energy Awareness & Self-Healing
Learn the Rhythm. Experience the Energy. Return to Gratitude.
Welcome to 4Gratitude Energy Healing.
We are energetic beings, and this course is an invitation to become more aware of the energy within and around you—and to experience it for yourself.
Reiki is one of the foundations we'll explore. You'll be introduced to the practice and receive your Reiki Level 1 attunement while also exploring grounding, chakras, intention, breath, intuition, and other practices that have become meaningful parts of my own journey.
My intention isn't to give you everything there is to know about energy healing. It is to give you a meaningful foundation you can experience, explore, and make your own.
TO BECOME STILL
To reconnect with your body. To listen within. To become more aware. To experience. To discover. And perhaps most importantly...
to become curious.
THIS JOURNEY BEGINS WITH YOU
This is an invitation to become still, connect with your energy, listen within, and discover more of yourself along the way.
There is no particular sensation you need to feel, experience you need to have, or outcome you need to reach. Your experience belongs to you.
FOR NOW... SIMPLY BEGIN
THE 4GRATITUDE EXPERIENCE
There is one Sacred Pause I want you to carry throughout this course:
GRATITUDE
Gratitude is woven into the heart of 4Gratitude. It invites us to recognize what is already here—the breath in our body, the people we love, the lessons we've learned, the beauty around us, and even the smallest moments we might otherwise overlook.
Healing can naturally draw our attention toward what we want to change.
Gratitude gently brings our awareness back to what we already have. Throughout this course, you'll discover a simple 4Gratitude practice that will become part of your journey. For now, simply notice:
WHAT AM I GRATEFUL FOR IN THIS MOMENT?
As you move forward, remain open and curious. Notice what arises, allow your experience to unfold in its own way, and trust that your journey belongs to you.
Throughout the course, we'll return again and again to three simple words:
NOTICE · ALLOW · RETURN
NOTICE what you experience.
ALLOW it without immediately trying to change or explain it.
RETURN to your breath. Return to your body. Return to the present moment. Return to yourself. And always... return to GRATITUDE.
WELCOME TO 4GRATITUDE ENERGY HEALING
BE PRESENT · BE OPEN TO RECEIVE · BE CURIOUS
LET'S BEGIN
RETURN TO GRATITUDE
Module 1
What Is Reiki?
The word Reiki comes from Japanese.
"Rei" is commonly interpreted as universal or spiritual wisdom.
"Ki" refers to life-force energy.
Together, Reiki is commonly described as:
UNIVERSAL LIFE-FORCE ENERGY
Reiki is a spiritual practice, yet it is not tied to any particular religion or belief system. Developed in Japan by Mikao Usui in the early twentieth century, Reiki is centered on life-force energy, awareness, balance, and well-being. We'll explore its history and lineage in the next module.
THIS COURSE BEGINS WITH YOU
Reiki can be shared with others, yet our focus here is Self-Reiki—becoming still, connecting with yourself, and developing greater awareness of your own energy and capacity for healing.
4Gratitude Energy Healing gives you a foundation to experience and explore for yourself.
THIS JOURNEY BEGINS WITH YOU
REIKI IS GRACE IN MOTION
For me, Reiki is Grace in Motion—life-force energy flowing with Divine Wisdom and guided by Love.
As we become present and open ourselves to receive, we allow the energy to flow naturally and the experience to unfold.
This is how Reiki has revealed itself to me through my own experience and spiritual journey. Yours may be different. Remain open. Stay curious. Allow your own understanding of Reiki to unfold through experience.
GENTLE · INTUITIVE · POWERFUL
MY GATEWAY INTO REIKI
Reiki entered my life while I was searching for relief from shoulder pain. What began as a desire for physical healing opened the door to something much greater.
Through Reiki, I began reconnecting with my body, deepening my intuition, and becoming aware of the energy within and around me. It opened my awareness to how much more there was to explore beyond the physical body and what I could see with my eyes.
Reiki became my gateway into the larger world of energy healing and balancing.
RETURNING TO BALANCE
One of the ideas I want you to carry throughout this course is BALANCE.
Life is constantly moving, and our thoughts, emotions, relationships, surroundings, and experiences all influence how we feel. Reiki creates an opportunity to pause, become still, and return to ourselves.
You may experience warmth, tingling, movement, emotion, imagery, relaxation, peace—or something entirely your own.
NOTICE · ALLOW · RETURN
WHAT CAN REIKI SUPPORT?
Reiki is commonly used as a complementary wellness practice to support relaxation, stress reduction, emotional calm, mindfulness, self-awareness, peace, connection, and overall well-being.
It can be experienced alongside other forms of care as another way to nurture yourself, reconnect, and return to balance.
REIKI LEVELS
Reiki training is commonly divided into levels, although the structure varies among lineages and teachers.
Level 1 provides a foundation in Reiki and Self-Reiki. In 4Gratitude Energy Healing, we'll also explore grounding, energy awareness, and complementary practices from the broader world of energy healing and balancing.
Additional Reiki levels are available for those who later feel called to continue their Reiki training.
WHAT IS AN INTENTIONAL BREATH?
Throughout this course, I will often invite you to take an intentional breath.
An intentional breath is simply a moment to slow down, bring your awareness to your breathing, and become present.
Breathe in slowly through your nose. Pause for a moment. Then gently breathe out through your mouth. There is no need to force your breath or hold it for a specific amount of time.
INHALE · PAUSE · EXHALE
Allow the breath to bring you back to your body, the present moment, and yourself. Whenever I invite you to take an intentional breath throughout this course, this is what I mean.
BEFORE YOU CONTINUE take
Place your hands comfortably on your lap and take:
ONE SLOW, INTENTIONAL BREATH
Ask yourself what brought you here, and notice what comes to mind... Then consider what you are open to discovering and carry that curiosity with you as we move forward.
And remember, Reiki is Grace in Motion.
BE PRESENT · BE OPEN TO RECEIVE
ALLOW REIKI TO FLOWALLOW LOVE TO LEAD
AND ALWAYS—RETURN TO GRATITUDE
Module 2
The Roots of Reiki
Modern Reiki traces its roots to Mikao Usui, who developed Usui Reiki Ryōhō in Japan in the early 1920s. Usui's teachings included hands-on healing, meditation, spiritual principles, and practices intended to support personal and spiritual development.
According to Reiki tradition, Usui spent a period of fasting and meditation on Mount Kurama, a sacred mountain near Kyoto. During this experience, he is said to have received a profound spiritual insight that became an important part of the development of his Reiki practice and teachings.
Usui went on to practice, teach, and share Reiki with others, beginning the lineage that would carry his teachings forward.
FROM JAPAN TO THE WEST
One of Usui's students, Chujiro Hayashi, continued developing and teaching Reiki in Japan. Hawayo Takata, a Japanese-American woman from Hawaii, later studied with Hayashi and became a Reiki teacher herself. She played an important role in bringing Reiki to Hawaii and introducing it more broadly throughout the West.
As Reiki traveled across cultures and generations, different lineages, techniques, and teaching styles developed—all growing from the foundation that began with Usui.
DIFFERENT BRANCHES CAN GROW FROM THE SAME TREE
WHAT IS A REIKI LINEAGE?
A Reiki lineage is the line of teachers through whom Reiki training and attunements have been passed, connecting each generation back to Mikao Usui.
This lineage is part of Reiki's tradition and distinguishes it from the broader practice of energy healing.
MY REIKI LINEAGE
My Reiki lineage connects my training to the teachers who carried Reiki before me.
MY UNDERSTANDING REACHES FURTHER BACK
While my documented Reiki lineage traces through my teachers to Mikao Usui, my spiritual understanding of healing reaches much further back.
I see the healing work of our brother Jesus—His laying on of hands, His faith, His Love, and His connection with the Divine—as part of a much older expression of spiritual healing.
For me, the lineage on paper leads back to Usui, while the Source of the energy is God. My own spiritual journey has deepened that understanding and strengthened my connection with Jesus and the Divine.
BEFORE YOU CONTINUE take
ONE INTENTIONAL BREATH
Reflect for a moment
Take a moment to reflect on lineage—not only in Reiki, but in your own life. We are all shaped by the people, experiences, and lessons that have helped us become who we are.
Think of someone who has taught you something meaningful or influenced your journey, and offer a moment of gratitude—for those who came before us, for those who shared their wisdom, and for all that we now have the opportunity to learn, carry forward, and share with others.
HONOR · REMEMBER · GIVE GRATITUDE
Module 3
Life-Force Energy
WHAT IS LIFE-FORCE ENERGY?
Life-force energy is the energy of life—the energy believed to flow within and around all living things. In Reiki, this energy is often called Ki. It is understood as the vital energy that moves through us, surrounds us, and connects us to the greater flow of life.
Through Reiki, we become more aware of this energy and create space to experience its movement through and around the body. For me, this energy is sacred—an expression of the Divine flowing through all of life.
The idea of life-force energy appears across many cultures and traditions. It may be called Ki in Japan, Qi or Chi in Chinese traditions, and Prana in Indian traditions. While each tradition understands it in its own way, they share an ancient recognition of the vital energy connected with life.
YOU EXPERIENCE YOUR WORLD THROUGH MORE THAN YOUR THOUGHTS
Think about walking into a peaceful room. Before anyone says a word, you may feel yourself relax. Now imagine walking into a room immediately after an argument. Sometimes you can sense tension before anyone tells you what happened.
We commonly describe experiences like these by saying:
"The energy in the room changed."
"She has such peaceful energy."
"Something felt off."
"I could feel the tension."
Some of these experiences can also be understood through sensory perception, body language, emotion, memory, and the nervous system. Within energy-healing traditions, we may also explore them through the language of energy and energetic awareness.
YOUR WHOLE SELF MATTERS
Our experiences involve many interconnected aspects of ourselves:
Physical — our bodies and physical sensations
Mental — our thoughts and beliefs
Emotional — our feelings and emotional experiences
Energetic — how we perceive and experience energy
Spiritual — our personal sense of meaning, connection, consciousness, or the Divine
These parts of ourselves don't always feel separate. Stress can be felt in the body. A peaceful environment can change our mood. Rest can change our thinking. Relationships can affect us physically and emotionally. Gratitude can change where we place our attention.
We experience ourselves as a whole, and Reiki gives us an opportunity to become quiet enough to notice that whole experience.
BECOMING AWARE
One of the most important things I hope you develop through 4Gratitude Energy Healing is awareness. Rather than needing to explain or define every experience, begin by paying attention. Notice what you feel, remain curious about what arises, and allow yourself to experience energy in your own way.
NOTICE · ALLOW · RETURN
Your relationship with energy begins with AWARENESS.
ENERGY IS PERSONAL
Throughout this course, I'll share some of my own experiences, and others may describe experiences completely different from mine. Yours may be different from all of ours.
I don't want you searching for my experience. I want you to discover yours.
BE PRESENT · STAY CURIOUS
Trust yourself enough to observe without immediately needing an answer.
BEFORE YOU CONTINUE
ONE INTENTIONAL BREATH
Reflect for a moment
Have there been times in your life when you sensed something before you could explain it? Begin noticing the ways you already experience yourself and the world around you.
Working with energy begins with awareness—simply noticing, listening, and remaining curious.
NOTICE · LISTEN · REMAIN CURIOUS
Section 2 — Building Your Foundation
Module 4
The Five Reiki Precepts
Reiki is about more than what happens when we place our hands on ourselves. The practice extends beyond a Reiki session and into the way we move through everyday life. At its foundation are principles that invite us to become more conscious of our thoughts, emotions, choices, relationships, and how we respond to the world around us.
The Five Reiki Precepts remind us that Reiki is not only about working with energy—it is also about cultivating awareness, gratitude, kindness, integrity, peace, and presence in our daily lives. In this way, the practice becomes something we can carry with us long after our hands have moved away.
REIKI ISN'T ONLY SOMETHING WE PRACTICEIT CAN BECOME PART OF HOW WE LIVE
The Five Reiki Precepts are traditionally associated with the teachings of Mikao Usui. You may encounter slightly different English translations depending upon the teacher or lineage, but the heart of the teaching remains simple:
JUST FOR TODAY...
Do not anger.
Do not worry.
Be GRATEFUL.
Do your work diligently.
Be kind to others.
These are invitations to awareness, and perhaps the most important words are the ones that come first:
JUST FOR TODAY
You don't have to figure out the rest of your life today. You aren't being asked to never feel anger or worry again. You are simply being invited to become more conscious of how you move through this day.
And tomorrow?
YOU BEGIN AGAIN
For me, the Five Reiki Precepts are simple reminders: embrace peace and trust, feel and release what you are ready to let go, return to the present moment, recognize what is worthy of gratitude, live with integrity, and offer kindness to yourself and others.
FOUR GRATITUDES
Gratitude is woven into the Reiki Precepts, and it has become an important part of my own practice. Gratitude reminds us that even during difficult moments, there is still something in our lives we can appreciate—a person we love, the warmth of the sun, an animal beside us, a beautiful sky, a lesson learned, a kind gesture, or simply another breath.
Our gratitudes can be big or small. What matters is that we notice them.
Throughout 4Gratitude Energy Healing, I invite you to develop one simple practice:
FOUR GRATITUDES
At the end of every practice, name four things in your life for which you can genuinely say, THANK YOU. Over time, allow this practice to move into your everyday life, becoming a simple way of returning your awareness to gratitude.
FOUR GRATITUDES · EVERY DAY · EVERY PRACTICE
TODAY & ALWAYS
As I reflected on the Five Reiki Precepts, I felt called to carry their wisdom beyond “Just for Today” into Today & Always—not to replace the traditional precepts, but to express their wisdom through unity and how we can choose to live, grow, and move through this world together.
So, I created my own reflection inspired by the Five Reiki Precepts:
A COMPLEMENTARY PRACTICE — HO'OPONOPONO
There is another practice I want to share because its message beautifully complements what we've explored here:
HO'OPONOPONO
Ho'oponopono comes from Hawaiian tradition and centers around restoring harmony and making things right within relationships.
A modern adaptation has become widely known through four simple phrases:
I'M SORRY · PLEASE FORGIVE METHANK YOU · I LOVE YOU
Ho'oponopono is not Reiki, and these four phrases don't represent the entirety of traditional Hawaiian Ho'oponopono. I'm sharing this modern practice because it offers another simple way to become still and reflect upon:
FORGIVENESS · GRATITUDECOMPASSION · LOVE · RELEASE
You might quietly repeat:
I'M SORRY — Acknowledging what needs acknowledgment.
PLEASE FORGIVE ME — Opening space for forgiveness.
THANK YOU — Returning to Gratitude.
I LOVE YOU — Returning to Love.
You may direct the words toward yourself, hold another person or situation gently in your awareness, or simply allow the words to become a meditation.
Forgiveness doesn't mean denying what happened or returning to something that isn't healthy for you. Sometimes it simply means creating space within yourself to release what you're ready to release.
EXPERIENCE IT · NOTICE WHAT ARISES · TAKE WHAT RESONATES
BEFORE YOU CONTINUE
Place your hands over your heart and take:
THREE INTENTIONAL BREATHS
Take a moment to reflect on the Five Reiki Precepts and notice which one speaks to you today. Perhaps you feel called to release something, return to the present moment, embrace gratitude, live with greater integrity, or offer more kindness to yourself and others.
Simply notice what feels meaningful to you in this moment.
And now close with your:
FOUR GRATITUDES
Today, I am grateful for...
Take one final breath.

Module 5
Understanding the Energy Body
We are more than our physical bodies. I have come to understand us as beings of energy and light—Souls experiencing life through a physical vessel. I believe we return to this Earth School through different lifetimes and different bodies, carrying the essence of the Soul with us as we learn, experience, grow, and continue our spiritual evolution. The body may change, yet the essence of the Soul remains.
For much of human history, many of us have moved through life primarily aware of the physical body, without consciously recognizing the energetic aspects of ourselves. Today, more and more people are awakening to the possibility that we are much more than what we can physically see—that our lives, relationships, challenges, and experiences can become opportunities for learning, healing, growth, and the evolution of the Soul.
From this perspective, the energy body isn't separate from us—it is part of our whole being. Our energy is understood to flow within and extend beyond the physical body, often described through concepts such as the energy field, aura, and chakras. I see the chakras as an important framework for exploring the energy centers within us and their relationship to our physical, emotional, mental, energetic, and spiritual balance.
FOR THOSE NEW TO THIS — THAT MAY BE A LOT
If these ideas are new to you, simply remain curious. You don't need to understand everything at once. For now, here's the bigger picture:
WE ARE ENERGY AND LIGHT → WE ARE SOULS HAVING A HUMAN EXPERIENCE → EARTH IS A PLACE TO LEARN, EXPERIENCE & EVOLVE → WE HAVE AN ENERGETIC BODY AS WELL AS A PHYSICAL BODY → NOW, LET'S EXPLORE THE ENERGY BODY THROUGH THE CHAKRAS
ONE STEP AT A TIME · EXPERIENCE IT FOR YOURSELF · REMAIN CURIOUS
WHAT IS A CHAKRA?
The Sanskrit word chakra is commonly translated as "wheel" or "disc." Chakras are understood as energy centers associated with different aspects of our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual experience.
In energy healing, the chakras are understood as part of the flow of energy within and around the body. As you bring awareness to the different chakra areas, simply notice what you experience. The energy may feel strong, subtle, or change as you remain there. Become still, allow the experience to unfold naturally, and remain curious.
For 4Gratitude Energy Healing, we'll explore the seven-chakra model commonly used in modern Western energy healing as a foundation for understanding the energy body and balance.
THE SEVEN PRIMARY CHAKRAS
The seven-chakra system we're exploring moves from the base of the body upward toward the crown of the head. In modern Western teachings, each chakra is commonly associated with particular themes and colors.
Muladhara
Location: Base of the spine / pelvic floor
Commonly associated color: Red
Themes: Grounding · Safety · Stability · Security · Belonging
The Root Chakra brings our attention to our foundation. When bringing awareness to this area, you might reflect on your relationship with safety, stability, home, your physical body, and your connection to the Earth.
Think: I am · I am grounded · I belong
Svadhisthana
Location: Lower abdomen
Commonly associated color: Orange
Themes: Creativity · Emotion · Pleasure · Sensuality · Flow
The Sacral Chakra invites us into creativity, feeling, movement, and our ability to experience life.
Think: I feel · I create · I allow myself to flow
Manipura
Location: Upper abdomen
Commonly associated color: Yellow
Themes: Confidence · Personal Power · Will · Self-Worth · Action
The Solar Plexus Chakra is often associated with our sense of self and our ability to move through the world with intention.
Think: I can · I choose · I trust my own power
Anahata
Location: Center of the chest
Commonly associated color: Green
Themes: Love · Compassion · Connection · Forgiveness · Openness
The Heart Chakra brings us into relationship with ourselves and others. And perhaps it isn't surprising that the heart is also a beautiful place to bring our awareness when experiencing gratitude.
Think: I love · I receive · I allow my heart to remain open while honoring myself
Vishuddha
Location: Throat area
Commonly associated color: Blue
Themes: Communication · Expression · Truth · Authenticity · Listening
The Throat Chakra invites us to consider not only what we say, but whether we are expressing ourselves authentically—and whether we are willing to listen.
Think: I speak · I listen · I honor my truth
Ajna
Location: Forehead / area between the eyebrows
Commonly associated color: Indigo
Themes: Intuition · Insight · Awareness · Imagination · Inner Knowing
The Third Eye Chakra is commonly associated with inner awareness and intuition. As we've been learning throughout this course, you can notice what you experience without immediately needing to explain it.
Think: I see · I notice · I listen within
Sahasrara
Location: Crown / top of the head
Commonly associated color: Violet or white
Themes: Spiritual Connection · Consciousness · Wisdom · Higher Awareness
The Crown Chakra is often associated with our connection to something greater than ourselves. You may call that God, the Divine, Source, Universal Consciousness, or something else entirely. Your spiritual language belongs to you.
Think: I connect · I receive · I am open
FROM ROOT TO CROWN
Notice the journey through the seven chakras:
I AM · I FEEL · I CAN · I LOVE · I SPEAK · I SEE · I CONNECT
From grounding ourselves in the physical world to opening our awareness toward something greater than ourselves.
CHAKRAS, BALANCE & REIKI
During Self-Reiki, you may naturally place your hands over areas that correspond with different chakras. Perhaps you want to remain at your heart longer one day. Another day, your hands may naturally move toward your abdomen.
Notice where your attention is drawn.Allow yourself to experience it.Remain curious.
NOTICE · ALLOW · RETURN
A SIMPLE CHAKRA AWARENESS EXPERIENCE
Sit or lie somewhere comfortable and take:
THREE INTENTIONAL BREATHS
Bring your awareness to the base of your body. Then slowly move your attention upward:
ROOT · SACRAL · SOLAR PLEXUS · HEART · THROAT · THIRD EYE · CROWN
Pause briefly at each area and simply notice.
- Does one area draw your attention?
- Does one feel comfortable or uncomfortable?
- Warm or cool?
- Heavy or light?
- Emotional—or completely ordinary?
There is no correct answer and nothing you're supposed to discover. This is simply an experience in awareness.
BEFORE YOU CONTINUE
Place both hands over your heart and take:
ONE SLOW, INTENTIONAL BREATH
Ask yourself: Where did my awareness naturally go today?
Then return to your:
FOUR GRATITUDES
Today, I am grateful for...
Take one final intentional breath.

Module 6
Preparing Yourself & Your Space
Clearing, Grounding & Intention
Before beginning Reiki or another energy practice, you may enjoy taking a few moments to prepare yourself and the space around you. And I want to emphasize the word: MAY
Reiki requires nothing outside of your intention, presence, and openness to receive. It can be practiced almost anywhere, at almost any time. The tools introduced in this module are simply options that may help you slow down, become present, and create an environment that feels peaceful and supportive.
CREATING SACRED SPACE
There is something beautiful about intentionally preparing a space before beginning. Lighting a candle, opening a window, holding a crystal, saying a prayer, or taking three intentional breaths can become a simple signal:
I'm here. I'm present. I'm ready to receive.
Sacred space can be an entire room, a quiet corner, or simply the space you intentionally create within yourself.
ENERGY CLEARING
Many spiritual and cultural traditions include practices for cleansing or preparing a person or space through smoke, sound, prayer, visualization, crystals, fresh air, water, movement, or intention.
I'll introduce a few that I personally enjoy or that you may encounter as you explore energy healing. These are complementary tools—not requirements of Reiki.
SAGE
Different varieties of sage have different histories and traditional uses. Today, some people incorporate sage into personal energy-clearing practices while holding an intention of release or renewal.
I release what no longer serves my highest good. May this space be peaceful, clear, and filled with love.
If you choose to burn sage or other herbs, learn about what you're using and how it is sourced. Use a fire-safe container and adequate ventilation, and be mindful of children, animals, smoke detectors, asthma, and respiratory sensitivities. A little smoke is enough.
PALO SANTO
Palo santo is an aromatic wood traditionally used in parts of South America. I personally love its smell. For me, the scent itself can become a signal:
It's time to become still.
You may use its aroma while setting an intention for peace, clarity, or release.
SELENITE
Selenite has become popular in modern crystal and energy-healing practices and is commonly associated with cleansing, clarity, peace, and energetic purification.
You might place a piece nearby or hold it for a moment as you become still. Notice your experience and discover what resonates with you.
SPIRITUAL BATH
Water can also become part of an intentional clearing practice. A spiritual bath is simply a bath taken with intention—a time to slow down, become present, and allow the water to symbolize cleansing, release, renewal, or whatever feels meaningful to you.
You might add Sea Salt, Epsom salt, herbs, flowers, essential oils, candles, music, prayer, or simply use the water itself. None of these are required.
Before stepping into the bath, take a moment to set an intention. You might say:
I RELEASE WHAT I AM READY TO RELEASE · I RECEIVE PEACE · I RETURN TO MYSELF
Then simply soak, breathe, become still, and allow the experience to be your own.
WATER · INTENTION · RELEASE · RENEW
CLEARING THROUGH INTENTION
Energy clearing doesn't have to be complicated. You can open a window, ring a bell, play peaceful music, say a prayer, take several intentional breaths, visualize light, place your hands over your heart, step outside, or simply state your intention.
You might say:
I CHOOSE PEACE IN THIS SPACE
Sometimes simplicity is the most powerful choice.
GROUNDING
Whether you've prepared your space or not, take a moment to ground yourself. Bring your awareness back to your body, your breath, the Earth beneath you, and this moment.
Place your feet on the floor or directly on the Earth when comfortable. Relax your shoulders, unclench your jaw, and allow your hands to rest naturally.
Take THREE INTENTIONAL BREATHS.
Notice the surface supporting you.Notice your body.Notice your breath.
ROOT INTO THE EARTH
If visualization resonates with you, imagine roots extending from the bottoms of your feet deep into the Earth—deep, steady, supported, and connected.
With each exhale, imagine releasing what you don't need to carry. With each inhale, allow yourself to become more present.
GRATITUDE & RECIPROCITY
As we talk about grounding and connecting with the Earth, I want to introduce another beautiful idea:
RECIPROCITY
Across many Indigenous cultures are diverse teachings about relationship and responsibility within the natural world. Rather than treating these traditions as one universal teaching, we can allow the broader idea of reciprocity to invite us to reflect on our own relationship with the Earth.
THE EARTH GIVES · PLANTS GIVE · WATER GIVES · ANIMALS GIVE · AND WE RECEIVE
Rather than only asking what we can receive from the Earth, we can also consider how we can honor what we've been given. This might look like caring for the land, wasting less, respecting water, treating plants and animals with greater awareness, or simply becoming more conscious of our everyday choices.
Gratitude becomes more than saying, "Thank you for what I have received." It also invites us to ask, "How can I give back?"
RECEIVE WITH GRATITUDE · GIVE WITH INTENTION · WALK WITH RESPECT
SET YOUR INTENTION
Once you feel grounded and present, consider how you would like to enter your Reiki experience.
Your intention can be as simple as:
I AM OPEN TO RECEIVE
We'll explore intention more deeply in the next module. For now, choose words that feel natural to you. Your intention belongs to you.
CREATE YOUR OWN RHYTHM
Over time, you may discover what helps you transition into a quiet, intentional space. It might be palo santo, a crystal, music, a candle, prayer, nature, three intentional breaths, or simply becoming still.
The tools may support the experience. They are not the source.
Sometimes your entire preparation can simply be:
BREATHE · BECOME PRESENT · SET YOUR INTENTION · PLACE YOUR HANDS · BEGIN
THE 4-MINUTE ENERGY PRACTICE
Four minutes to become present, connect with yourself, and return to gratitude.
You can practice this at the beginning of your day, anytime you need a reset, or whenever you simply want to come back to yourself.
GROUND
Feel your connection to the Earth beneath you.
Become aware of your body, your breath, and this moment. Allow yourself to arrive fully where you are.
BREATHE
Take THREE INTENTIONAL BREATHS.
With each breath, allow yourself to slow down, soften, and become more present.
RECEIVE
Bring your hands to your heart and quietly say:
I AM HERE · I AM PRESENT · I AM OPEN TO RECEIVE
Remain here for a moment, breathing and allowing yourself simply to be present.
There is nothing to accomplish and nothing to force.

Module 7
Setting an Intention
WHAT IS AN INTENTION?
An intention is a conscious choice about how you want to enter your Reiki experience. Think of it as gently pointing yourself in a direction—and then allowing the experience to unfold. Before beginning Reiki, take a moment to choose what feels meaningful to you.
Your intention might be:
PEACE · RELAXATION · CLARITY · BALANCE · RELEASE · CONNECTION · GRATITUDE
Or simply: I AM OPEN TO RECEIVE
INTENTION WITHOUT EXPECTATION
There is an important difference between intention and expectation.
An intention says: I am open to receiving what I need.
An expectation says: This specific thing needs to happen.
Set your intention. Then let go. Allow the experience to unfold in its own way.
NOTICE · ALLOW · RETURN
LET THE WORDS BE YOURS
There can be something powerful about putting words around what we welcome and are ready to receive. Speak your intention aloud, say it silently, write it down, or simply hold it within.
What matters is that it feels authentic to you.
INTENTIONS FOR SELF-REIKI
Before beginning, you might say:
May this Reiki experience support my highest good.
I am open to receiving peace and balance in this moment.
I release what I am ready to release and remain open to what serves me.
May I receive whatever this moment has for me.
Or simply: I AM OPEN TO RECEIVE
WHEN YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU NEED
Sometimes we know exactly what we're seeking, and other times we simply sense that something feels off. Reiki doesn't require you to know exactly what needs attention. Within Reiki, life-force energy is understood as intelligent energy—flowing where it is needed without requiring you to direct or control it.
Intention still holds an important place in the practice. Our words carry meaning, and consciously speaking what we desire helps us bring our awareness, energy, and focus toward what we want to create and receive. Your intention can be specific, or it can simply be an expression of openness.
Place your hands over your heart and takeTHREE INTENTIONAL BREATHS.Then quietly say:
I am open to receiving what supports my highest good
Release the expectation and allow the experience to unfold.
BECOME STILL · LISTEN · RECEIVE
CREATE YOUR PERSONAL REIKI INTENTION
Take a moment to create a simple intention that feels meaningful to you.You might begin with:
"AS I BEGIN REIKI, I AM OPEN TO..."
And allow the words to come naturally. Your intention may remain the same or change from day to day as your needs and experiences change.
YOUR INTENTION BELONGS TO YOU
BEFORE YOU CONTINUE
Place your hands over your heart and take:
THREE INTENTIONAL BREATHS
Say your intention aloud or quietly to yourself. Then let it go. Sit in silence for a moment.
JUST NOTICE
When you're ready, finish with your:
FOUR GRATITUDES
Today, I am grateful for...
Take one final intentional breath.

Module 8
Activating Your Hands
You've learned about energy, grounded yourself, and set your intention.
Now bring your awareness to one of the primary tools used in Reiki:
YOUR HANDS
In Reiki, the hands are placed gently on or slightly above the body, becoming part of the experience of giving and receiving energy.
BRINGING AWARENESS TO YOUR HANDS
Rub your palms together gently for several seconds to bring your awareness into your hands.
Then stop and hold your palms facing each other several inches apart.
Relax your shoulders. Soften your hands.
BREATHE
Slowly move your hands a little closer together, then farther apart. Pay attention to what you experience. You may notice warmth, tingling, pressure, pulsing, coolness, subtle movement, a sense of magnetism or resistance—or something entirely your own.
SIMPLY NOTICE
As you continue practicing Reiki, your awareness may deepen and change. Allow your experience to be exactly what it is.
NOTICE · ALLOW · RETURN
HANDS TO HEART — GASSHO
Bring your palms together gently at the center of your chest.
This position is known in Japanese as Gassho—bringing the palms together.
Take:
THREE INTENTIONAL BREATHS
Bring your awareness to your hands and then to your heart. Recall the intention you created in the previous module.
You might quietly say:
I AM PRESENT · I AM OPEN · I AM READY TO RECEIVE
Remain here for a few moments.
JUST BE HERE
LET YOUR HANDS GUIDE YOU
In the next module, you'll learn a sequence of Self-Reiki hand positions to give you a foundation for your practice. As you become familiar with them, continue paying attention to your own awareness.
Perhaps your hands naturally remain somewhere longer. Perhaps you feel drawn toward a particular area.
NOTICE WHAT YOU NOTICE
The hand positions give you a map.Awareness teaches you how to explore.
KEEP IT SIMPLE
Allow your own rhythm to develop naturally. Over time, beginning Reiki may become beautifully simple. You may rub your hands together, bring them into Gassho, set your intention, and begin.
Or your entire beginning may simply be:

Module 9
Self-Reiki Hand Positions
You've learned how to bring awareness into your hands. Now you'll learn the nine hand positions that provide a simple map for your Self-Reiki practice.
For now, focus on becoming familiar with the positions and moving comfortably through the sequence. After your Reiki Level 1 attunement, you'll begin experiencing the practice for yourself.
LEARN THE POSITIONS · BECOME COMFORTABLE WITH THE FLOW · PREPARE FOR THE EXPERIENCE
YOUR BODY IS YOUR TEMPLE
Your body carries you through this human experience. Self-Reiki can become a simple practice of attention, compassion, and care—a time to become present and reconnect with the body that carries you.
BECOME PRESENT · LISTEN · NOTICE · ALLOW
BEFORE YOU BEGIN
You may practice Self-Reiki sitting or lying down, wherever you feel comfortable.
Your hands may rest gently on your body or hover slightly above it. Always choose what feels comfortable, keeping your hands above any painful, injured, sensitive, or uncomfortable areas.
After your attunement, you may find it helpful to spend approximately 2–5 minutes at each position while you're learning. This is simply a guide. Over time, allow your awareness to help determine when you're ready to move.
COMFORT · GENTLENESS · AWARENESS
SELF-REIKI HAND POSITIONS
Now let's become familiar with each position. Focus on learning where your hands are placed and the chakra associated with each area.
TOP OF HEAD
Crown Chakra
Place your hands gently on or slightly above the top of your head. This is the location of the Crown Chakra, commonly associated with spiritual connection, consciousness, Divine connection, and higher awareness.
Relax your shoulders and become familiar with the position.
EYES / FOREHEAD
Third Eye Chakra
Place your hands gently over your forehead or eyes, resting them wherever feels most comfortable and keeping pressure away from the eyes. This area corresponds with the Third Eye Chakra, commonly associated with intuition, insight, perception, and inner awareness.
Relax your face, unclench your jaw, and notice how the position feels.
THROAT / UPPER CHEST
Throat Chakra
Place your hands gently near your throat or upper chest, keeping pressure away from the throat. This is the area of the Throat Chakra, commonly associated with communication, expression, listening, authenticity, and truth.
Find a placement that feels gentle and comfortable.
CENTER OF CHEST
Heart Chakra
Place both hands gently over the center of your chest. This is the location of the Heart Chakra, commonly associated with Love, compassion, connection, forgiveness, and openness.
Allow your hands to rest comfortably over your heart.
UPPER ABDOMEN
Solar Plexus Chakra
Place your hands comfortably over your upper abdomen, between your rib cage and navel. This is the area of the Solar Plexus Chakra, commonly associated with confidence, personal power, will, self-worth, and inner strength.
Notice where your hands rest most naturally.
LOWER ABDOMEN
Sacral Chakra
Place your hands comfortably over your lower abdomen, below your navel. This is the area of the Sacral Chakra, commonly associated with creativity, emotion, pleasure, relationships, and flow.
Allow your hands to rest gently over this area.
HIPS / PELVIS
Root Chakra
Place your hands comfortably around your hips or pelvic area. This brings your awareness toward the Root Chakra, located at the base of the spine and commonly associated with grounding, stability, security, belonging, and connection to the physical world.
Find a position that feels natural and comfortable.
KNEES
Root / Grounding
Place one hand gently on each knee. The knees are not the location of one of the seven major chakras, yet this position continues the grounding focus associated with the Root Chakra and brings the sequence farther down through the body.
FEET
Root / Earth Connection
Finish by placing your hands on or near your feet. The feet are not one of the seven major chakra locations, yet they continue the grounding connection associated with the Root Chakra and the Earth.
If reaching your feet isn't comfortable, rest your hands on your lower legs or thighs and bring your awareness toward your feet.
GROUNDED · PRESENT · HERE
THE HAND POSITIONS ARE A MAP
These positions provide structure for your Self-Reiki practice. As your experience grows, you may naturally remain longer in certain positions, move outside the sequence, or spend your entire practice with your hands in one place.
BEGIN WITH THE MAP
ALLOW YOUR AWARENESS TO GUIDE YOU
NOW EXPERIENCE IT WITH ME
You've learned the positions and become familiar with the flow.
In The Healing Hands, we'll bring Modules 8 and 9 together as I guide you through activating your hands and moving through the complete Self-Reiki sequence.

Section 4 — Your 21-Day Journey
Module 10
Your 21-Day Reiki Integration Journey
Receiving your Reiki attunement is the beginning of your Reiki Level 1 experience. At a ceremony I once attended, a woman shared something that stayed with me: the ceremony itself wasn't the entire experience—the real journey began when you went home. The ceremony was simply the initiation, opening the door for everything that would unfold afterward.
That is how I see the Reiki attunement. It is an initiation—a doorway. What follows is where you begin exploring Reiki for yourself and discovering what unfolds through your own practice.
After your attunement, I encourage you to spend the next 21 days practicing Self-Reiki and intentionally observing yourself. In many modern Reiki traditions, this is described as a 21-day cleansing, purification, or self-healing period. I prefer to think of it as your:
21-DAY REIKI INTEGRATION JOURNEY
WHY 21 DAYS?
The number 21 has become significant within modern Reiki teaching and is often associated with accounts of Mikao Usui's period of fasting, meditation, and spiritual reflection on Mount Kurama. Over time, many Reiki teachers began encouraging students to spend 21 days practicing Self-Reiki following an attunement.
You may hear this called a 21-Day Cleanse, Purification, Self-Healing, or Integration period. However you choose to think of it, these 21 days are about giving yourself:
TIME · ATTENTION · AWARENESS · GRATITUDE
AN INTENTIONAL PAUSE
These 21 days can also be an opportunity to become more aware of what you're continually taking in—not only through your body, but through your eyes, ears, mind, and energy.
Perhaps you're inspired to become more intentional about social media, television, news, noise, certain environments, or anything else that may leave you feeling depleted. You may also choose to become more mindful of the foods that nourish your body, but this is not an invitation to fast from food.
Ask yourself:
What am I feeding my body?
What am I feeding my mind?
What am I feeding my spirit?
NOTICE WHAT NOURISHES YOU
DRINK LOTS OF WATER
WHAT MIGHT I EXPERIENCE?
Everyone's experience following a Reiki attunement is different. You may become more aware of physical sensations, emotions, thoughts, memories, dreams, energy, habits, patterns, peace, clarity, or intuitive experiences. Your experience may also be very subtle.
There is nothing specific you need to experience. Simply observe what unfolds.
EXPERIENCE · OBSERVE · REMAIN CURIOUS
MY OWN EXPERIENCE
After my attunement, I experienced what felt to me like a very real physical cleansing—my body seemed to purge.
That was my experience, and yours may look completely different. Pay attention to your body, remain curious, and seek appropriate care for any physical symptoms that concern you rather than assuming they are connected to Reiki.
YOUR DAILY RHYTHM
Your 21-day journey is about connection, not perfection. Some days you may spend 10 or 20 minutes with Self-Reiki; other days you may have only a few. Use the time you have and return to the rhythm you've already learned:
YOUR 21-DAY REIKI INTEGRATION LOG
Use your 4Gratitude 21-Day Reiki Integration Log to record your experience each day. Think of it as leaving breadcrumbs for yourself—sometimes we don't recognize what has been changing until we look back.
Notice anything that stands out and reflect on what you may be learning about yourself. A few words may be enough.
LET YOUR EXPERIENCE GUIDE YOU
IF YOU MISS A DAY
Life happens. If you miss a day, simply return when you're ready. Continue where you left off, begin again, or allow today to become another beginning.
YOU CAN ALWAYS RETURN
DAY 21 — LOOK BACK
When you reach Day 21, return to Day 1 and read what you wrote. Look for your own breadcrumbs.
What has changed? What have you noticed about yourself? Has your relationship with Reiki—or with yourself—shifted? What surprised you? What are you grateful for now? What do you want to carry forward?
The 21 days may be complete, but your practice doesn't have to be.
Perhaps Reiki becomes an important part of your life. Perhaps it becomes something you return to whenever you want to become still and reconnect with yourself. Perhaps it opens another doorway entirely.

Section 5 — Deepening the Experience
Module 11
Reiki Ethics
Approaching Reiki with Love & Integrity
Learning Reiki is not only about understanding energy or learning where to place your hands. It is also about how we carry the practice—with awareness, responsibility, respect, and integrity. As your relationship with Reiki and energy deepens, so should your discernment.
Remain open to what you experience. Stay curious about what you don't yet understand. Honor your intuition while recognizing the difference between what you experience, what you believe, and what you know.
Approaching Reiki with integrity means respecting yourself, respecting others, honoring different beliefs, knowing the boundaries of your practice, and allowing Love to guide how you use what you've learned.
NOTICE · STAY CURIOUS · USE DISCERNMENT
AND ABOVE ALL · ALLOW LOVE TO LEAD
NOTICE BEFORE YOU INTERPRET
Throughout this course, you've been encouraged to notice your experience before deciding what it means. Perhaps your hands become warm, you notice tingling, an emotion arises, an intuitive thought enters your mind, or you feel drawn to remain somewhere longer.
Begin with what you know: a sensation is an experience; an explanation is an interpretation. Honor what you experience while remaining curious about what it may mean.
NOTICE WHAT YOU KNOW
REMAIN CURIOUS ABOUT WHAT YOU DON'T
LET YOUR EXPERIENCE EMPOWER YOU
As you explore Reiki, chakras, intuition, and energy awareness, you may encounter many different teachings and interpretations. Listen, learn, explore, and use your own discernment.
What did I actually experience?
What do I know?
What am I assuming?
What might I still need to learn?
Remain open while trusting your own judgment.
CURIOSITY · DISCERNMENT · SELF-TRUST
REIKI COMPLEMENTS CARE
Reiki can be one part of caring for your overall well-being alongside medical care, mental-health care, physical rehabilitation, and other forms of professional support. Listen to your body, ask questions, ask your body, advocate for yourself, and seek appropriate professional guidance when needed.
REIKI IS A COMPLEMENTARY WELLNESS PRACTICE
Reiki training does not qualify us to diagnose illness. Recognizing the role Reiki can play while respecting where other forms of expertise belong is part of approaching healing with integrity.
IMPORTANT
Reiki is not a replacement for medical or mental-health care. It should not be used to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent a medical condition, or as a reason to delay or discontinue professional care, medication, or treatment. If you have symptoms or concerns about your physical or mental health, seek guidance from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
REIKI CAN COMPLEMENT YOUR CARE · IT DOES NOT REPLACE IT
HONOR DIFFERENT BELIEFS
Throughout 4Gratitude Energy Healing, I sometimes use words such as God, the Divine, Source, Universal Consciousness, and life-force energy. These reflect how I have come to understand my own experience.
Your language and understanding may be different. Explore what resonates, question what doesn't, and allow your own understanding to unfold.
YOUR SPIRITUAL PATH BELONGS TO YOU
KNOW WHAT YOU KNOW
Completing Reiki Level 1 gives you a foundation, and your knowledge and understanding can continue to grow from here.
There is strength in being able to say:I DON'T KNOW
Remain willing to learn, explore, and allow experience to deepen your understanding.
HUMILITY IS PART OF THE JOURNEY
THE 4GRATITUDE FOUNDATION
As you continue exploring Reiki and energy healing, return to these principles:
AWARENESS · CURIOSITY · DISCERNMENT · COMPASSION
INTEGRITY · EMPOWERMENT · GRATITUDE
These principles extend far beyond Reiki.
BEFORE YOU CONTINUE
Place your hands over your heart and take
THREE INTENTIONAL BREATHS.
Then ask yourself:
How do I want to approach my own healing journey?
Choose three words you want to carry with you—perhaps curious, open, grounded, compassionate, discerning, trusting, present, patient, or grateful. Choose what feels true for you.

Module 12
Deepening Your Self-Healing Practice
Reiki is not a religion, and the energy we are exploring does not belong to any one religion, belief system, or spiritual tradition. I believe the Soul and the Divine energy that connects all life exist far beyond the labels and structures humanity has created to understand them.
Throughout this course, I use words such as God, the Divine, Source, and Creator because they reflect my own understanding. You may use different words. Honor the language and connection that feel true to you.
Self-Reiki is your foundation, and your 21-day integration journey is an opportunity to discover what healing means for you. As you continue practicing, I want to share two simple things that have become meaningful parts of my own journey—an invitation that changed the way I saw my own healing, and a deeper way of connecting with the breath.
EXPLORE · EXPERIENCE · MAKE IT YOUR OWN
ASK GOD TO SHOW YOU YOURSELF HEALED
One of the greatest gifts I received on my own healing journey was a simple piece of advice:
GOD, PLEASE SHOW ME MYSELF HEALED
When we're seeking healing, so much of our attention can become focused on what hurts, what feels wrong, or what we want to change. This invitation turns our attention toward another possibility:
What does healed look like for me?
Consider asking this question during a quiet moment of prayer, meditation, or Self-Reiki. Then let it go. Become still. Remain open.
I asked God this question once. My answer didn't come immediately. It revealed itself over time, eventually through a vision. Your answer may come in an entirely different way.
This is why two teachings from Scripture have become so meaningful to me:
"Be Still, and Know." — Psalm 46:10
"The Kingdom of God is Within You." — Luke 17:21
For me, these are reminders to become still and go within. There is no need to force an answer or decide how it should arrive. It may come through a thought, a feeling, an inner knowing, a vision, an experience—or reveal itself gradually over time.
ASK · SURRENDER · BE STILL · REMAIN OPEN
CONNECTING YOUR BREATH
Throughout this course, you've experienced intentional breathing again and again. Now let's take it a little deeper by bringing your awareness into the breath.
The breath is always with us, creating a natural bridge between the body, mind, heart, and present moment. Sometimes, coming back to yourself begins with something as simple as coming back to your breath.
Bring your hands to your heart and take
THREE INTENTIONAL BREATHS
As you breathe, imagine your breath flowing into your heart and connecting with your mind. Allow your heart, mind, and breath to come together as you become still and present.
There is nothing to force or accomplish.Simply breathe and notice.
HEART · MIND · BREATH
You can return to this connected breathing during Self-Reiki, meditation, prayer, grounding, or anytime you want to reconnect with yourself.
YOUR BREATH IS ALWAYS WITH YOU · LET IT BECOME ONE MORE WAY HOME
KEEP THE FOCUS WITHIN
Throughout this course, Reiki has begun with YOU. You've learned to become still, connect with yourself, listen within, and develop your own relationship with Reiki.
SELF-REIKI IS YOUR FOUNDATION
Reiki can also be offered to others, and perhaps one day you'll feel called to explore that path. For this Level 1 foundation, however, I have intentionally chosen to keep our focus on Self-Reiki—working with your own energy, deepening your awareness, and experiencing the practice for yourself.
Give yourself time to practice, observe, and discover what Reiki becomes for you. If you eventually feel called to offer Reiki to others, I encourage you to seek additional guidance and training in permission, boundaries, ethics, and responsible practice.
FOR NOW, THIS JOURNEY IS ABOUT YOU
BECOME PRESENT · LISTEN WITHIN · RECEIVE

Module 13
Trusting Your Intuition
NOTICE · LISTEN · TRUST · DISCERN
Throughout this course, you've practiced becoming still, noticing your body and energy, and listening within. As your awareness deepens, you may begin recognizing something that has likely been with you all along:
YOUR INTUITION
Intuition notices before the conscious mind understands.
Discernment helps us decide what to do with what we notice.
WHAT IS INTUITION?
Intuition is the ability to sense or recognize something without consciously reasoning your way to the conclusion.
The conscious mind often works step by step—thinking, analyzing, comparing, questioning, and reaching conclusions.
Intuition can be different.
The awareness may arrive before the explanation does.
Sometimes we know something before we understand why we know it.
Intuition may come through:
KNOWING
You simply know something without knowing how you know.
FEELING
Something feels right, wrong, aligned, uncomfortable, familiar, or significant.
THE BODY
You notice a physical sensation or energetic response before consciously understanding what triggered it.
IMAGES OR IMPRESSIONS
A picture, symbol, memory, word, or idea unexpectedly enters your awareness.
INNER DIRECTION
You feel drawn toward—or away from—something without having an immediate explanation.
HEIGHTENED AWARENESS
Something catches your attention in a way that feels different from ordinary thought.
Sometimes intuition is unmistakable. More often, it is subtle.
A quiet nudge.
A sudden knowing.
A shift in your body.
A thought that seems to arrive from nowhere.
Or simply:
Pay attention.
WHERE DOES INTUITION COME FROM?
People understand intuition in different ways.
Our subconscious minds continually process information, experiences, patterns, emotions, memories, and sensory details outside our immediate awareness. Sometimes the mind recognizes something before conscious thought catches up.
Others experience intuition as something deeper—a connection with the Soul, higher self, or deeper levels of consciousness and awareness that we are only beginning to understand.
Perhaps these possibilities do not have to compete.
You don't have to define intuition to begin recognizing it.
LEARN YOUR OWN LANGUAGE
Your intuition may not feel like someone else's.
Instead of asking:
Do I have intuition?
Begin asking:
How does my intuition communicate with me?
Become still. Notice what arises. Pay attention to what repeats.
Over time, you may begin recognizing your own patterns and learning the language of your inner knowing.
BECOME STILL · PAY ATTENTION · LISTEN WITHIN
INTUITION & REIKI
As you experience Reiki, intuition may begin showing itself in subtle ways.
Your hands may naturally remain somewhere longer. You may feel drawn toward a particular area, notice a sensation, or experience a thought, emotion, image, or memory.
You don't need to immediately decide what it means.
NOTICE FIRST · INTERPRET LATER
INTUITION & DISCERNMENT
Intuition and discernment belong together.
You may sometimes wonder:
Is this my intuition—or simply a thought?
You may not know immediately.
NOTICE
what arose.
LISTEN
without immediately explaining it.
TRUST
yourself enough not to dismiss what you experienced.
DISCERN
before deciding what it means or acting on it.
Intuition is not the same as certainty. Fear, hope, expectation, and past experiences can also influence what we feel.
Sometimes the wisest response is simply:
I noticed something. I don't know what it means yet. I'm willing to pay attention.
Then let experience teach you.
What did I notice?
What did I think it meant?
What actually happened?
Over time, you begin to recognize your patterns. Awareness becomes discernment, and discernment deepens self-trust.
INTUITION LISTENS · DISCERNMENT QUESTIONS · EXPERIENCE TEACHES
COME BACK TO YOURSELF
Teachers, books, healers, experiences, and life itself can all teach us.
And there is another teacher I want you to remember:
YOURSELF
Learn from others. Ask questions. Explore. Remain curious.
Then come back to yourself.
What did you experience?
What do you know?
What feels meaningful?
What might you still need to learn?
You may already know more than you realize.
A SIMPLE INTUITION PRACTICE
Sit comfortably, ground yourself, and take:
THREE INTENTIONAL BREATHS
Place your hands over your heart and become still.
Ask yourself:
What do I need to know about myself today?
Then listen.
Perhaps a word, feeling, image, memory, thought, or knowing comes forward.
Perhaps there is simply stillness.
You don't need to make something happen.
BE STILL · LISTEN · NOTICE
Allow whatever arises to unfold in its own time.
BEFORE YOU CONTINUE
Place your hands over your heart and take:
ONE INTENTIONAL BREATH
Ask yourself:
How does my intuition speak to me?
Simply notice.
Then close with your:
FOUR GRATITUDES
Today, I am grateful for...

NOTICE · LISTEN · TRUST · DISCERN
Section 6 — Closing & Moving Forward
Module 14
Closing a Reiki Session
Just as we intentionally begin Reiki, we can intentionally close the experience. Closing is simply a moment to acknowledge:
I AM COMPLETE
Pause, breathe, and allow the experience to come to a close.
WHEN THE SESSION FEELS COMPLETE
Sometimes you'll complete all of your hand positions. Sometimes you'll have a certain amount of time available. And sometimes you'll simply feel complete.
Allow your awareness to guide you.
TRUST THE MOMENT · ALLOW THE EXPERIENCE TO CLOSE
HANDS TO HEART
Bring your palms together at your heart in Gassho, or place both hands gently over your heart.
Take THREE INTENTIONAL BREATHS and notice your breath, your body, and how you feel.
Whatever your experience was—powerful, peaceful, subtle, or somewhere in between—allow it to be complete.
SIMPLY NOTICE
FOUR GRATITUDES
Now return to the heart of 4Gratitude.
Name FOUR THINGS YOU ARE GRATEFUL FOR.
They may be enormous or tiny—a person you love, your body, the warmth of the sun, a meal, a conversation, a moment of peace, or something beautiful you almost overlooked.
Simply notice what is already present in your life for which you can genuinely say:
THANK YOU
Gratitude doesn't ask us to ignore what is difficult. It simply reminds us that even within difficulty, there may still be something worthy of gratitude.
THIS IS WHY WE RETURN
RETURN TO YOUR BODY
Bring your awareness back to your body and surroundings. Feel the surface beneath you, notice the room, move your fingers and toes, and stretch if it feels good.
Listen to what your body needs—water, quiet, rest, reflection, or simply a return to your day.
RETURN SLOWLY · COME BACK TO THIS MOMENT
REFLECT
During your 21-Day Reiki Integration Journey, record anything that feels worth remembering.
What did you notice? How do you feel now? Is there anything you want to remember?
A word may be enough. A sentence may be enough.
THE 4GRATITUDE CLOSING RHYTHM
When you're first learning, remember this simple flow:
NOTICE · GRATITUDE · RETURN
CARRY IT WITH YOU
Closing Reiki doesn't mean leaving the experience behind. The awareness you cultivate here can move with you into everyday life.
Perhaps you remember to breathe, listen more closely to your body, notice something beautiful, or offer a little more compassion.
Perhaps you simply find yourself saying:
THANK YOU
RETURN TO GRATITUDE

A MOMENT OF STILLNESS
At the completion of your attunement, I will guide you to pause the video so you can remain within the experience for as long as you wish.
There is no time limit. Allow yourself to be still, receive, and simply be with whatever the moment brings.
After pausing the video, take three slow, intentional breaths, gently bringing your awareness back to your body and the present moment.
Then, when you are ready, resume the video and we will complete the ceremony together.
BEGIN YOUR ATTUNEMENT CEREMONY
